How to apply

Please send an initial expression of interest (1 page summary including main aims, key beneficiaries and approximated costs) as an attachment via email.

After submitting this expression of interest, you should receive an email notification letting you know it has safely arrived. Following that, you will next hear from us once we have done an initial assessment, which will either let you know that we are inviting to you submit a full proposal or not.  This should take approximately 2-6 weeks. If we have invited you to submit a full proposal please email as an attachment an application as set out below.

Please only compete the next session if you have been asked to do so following the above expression of interest.

Application requirements

1. Please head it with the:
   
1. Name of your organisation.
2. Name of the project.
3. Please provide a shortened title for reference purposes (<5 words)
   
   
2. Information about who you are:
   
1. The name of the lead applicant.
• Contact details of the person to reply to:
  
  • Email.
  • Phone number.
  • Postal address.
  • A link to your individual, project, and / or team website.
2. Charity number or equivalent.
3. A contact in the organisation’s central finance team.
4. The name and email address of any one you will work with for this project, with their organisation’s name and an indication of how much time (s)he will commit to the project throughout its duration
   
   
3. Information about your project:
   
1. Summary of the project’s background and approach.
2. Rationale for the project and why it is needed.
3. Key goals of the project: What do you hope to achieve from it?
4. Method: How will you go about reaching these goals?
5. Evidence-base: can you give us some evidence as to why this is the best approach? Articles from peer-reviewed scientific journals would be particularly welcome.
6. How ethical issues have been addressed:
   
   • Does everyone involved have a current DBS check?
   • What are your policies to safeguard children and vulnerable adults?
   • Are any other ethical or institutional approvals needed for this project?
   • What is your lone-working policy?
     
7. Sources of advice you have used during the development of your proposed project.
8. Costings: Please supply a budget in table format as an appendix, with one row for each spend. By all means group items through using additional columns, but each item must be listed in a separate row. Furthermore, for projects spanning more than one year, the budget must indicate which funding is required in each year.
9. Timescale, in calendar months. This should include a plan with key milestones, and can be presented as a Gannt chart.
10. Viability, including track record with such projects previously.
11. A summary of job descriptions for any posts included in the application
12. Any other sources of funding involved.
13. What will happen if your application to us is unsuccessful?
    
    
4. Information about the expected impact of your project
   
1. Practical impact of the project: who will benefit, and the likely timescale of benefit.
2. How will you measure the success of your project in reaching its goals?
3. The key beneficiaries of the project – who they are and how many there are.
4. How will you tell others about the project and its success?
   
   
5. Suggested referees.
   
1. Please suggest two people who could give an objective reference for your project. They must be from a different organisation to you, cannot be family members, and cannot have worked with you for at least five years. Please give their names, organisations, and email addresses.

Your application must be in Word and page numbered. Please use 12-point Times New Roman font with at least 1” margins. It can be up to 4 pages long.
