Child Development - RESEARCH

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

In a seemingly unconventional alignment, our focus on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) shares a home with our endeavors in Child Development. This strategic decision, however, is rooted in the origins of our research-focused fund, which, since its inception in 2017, has been primarily dedicated to advancing our understanding of PCOS.

Our interest in this area developed as we became increasingly aware of the profound impact this condition has on women's lives, coupled with the glaring gaps in comprehension and support. Initially concentrated on research, our efforts have since evolved into robust collaborations with pivotal organisations, researchers, and charities in the field. Through this amalgamated approach, we aspire to collectively enhance the diagnostic experience and outcomes for women grappling with PCOS.

Research:

Research remains at the heart of our mission. While there is currently no official research call, we extend an invitation to researchers to reach out if their plans align with our current priority areas. This page will promptly be updated as soon as we solidify this year's research grants.

  • Our enduring curiosity centers on unraveling the intricate mechanisms underpinning the development of PCOS, be it genetic, biological, or physiological.
  • Additionally, we keenly explore the transgenerational impacts of PCOS on offspring and the potential sex differences related to this.
  • This year, we are excited to delve into the uncharted territory that unites our fascination with PCOS and the growing field of the gut microbiome.

If you are a UK-based researcher interested in projects that might improve the diagnostic experience and support for women with PCOS please get in touch.

Practical support:

If you are a UK based charity working directly with women with PCOS you are eligible to apply to our practical project grants. Please see this page for more information.
