Child development - DIssemination and PRACTICAL
DISSEMINATION SUPPORT
We love to support the dissemination of knowledge and best practice related to our key areas of research interest for children and their carers, and to related professionals. These grants are smaller than our research funding, and grants are typically up to £10,000, although applications for larger awards will be considered in special circumstances. This dissemination can be either by researchers themselves or by support groups, and could take the form of:
- Website development
- Helplines
- Newsletters
- Workshops
- Conferences, either sponsorship of or attendance at.
However, we are unlikely to wish to be the sole funder of any such support, so it will be important that you demonstrate what your own fundraising efforts have been and how we can augment your success. We will also consider how cost-effective your plans are.
These grants are smaller than our research funding, and are typically up to £25,000. For examples of dissemination projects the Child Development Fund has previously supported, please click here. PRACTICAL PROJECTS
We are able to offer some support to projects in Wales which help families who are affected by neurodevelopmental disorders. These are typically in the region of £5-£20k depending on the project.
We generally do not fund actual support for individual children with these conditions (e.g. homes, equipment or therapists for individuals etc) – sorry. However, we have limited capacity to fund a small number of practical projects subject to the following criteria:
- In Wales
- High local need
- Low cost per project

Deadlines
In general, the timing of practical and dissemination awards will be the same as for our research awards, but there is some scope for flexibility. For logistical reasons it is helpful if applications for practical and dissemination projects are made when we are also receiving applications for research projects in the same topic. Thus, if possible, please send the application in before the relevant deadline listed here. However, for practical and dissemination projects, we do have some flexibility with timings, particularly for neurodevelopmental disorders for which we do not have specific calls (i.e. related to Autism or Dyslexia). |
